Bahrain Mirror: A number of protests were staged last night (April 4, 2016) in Bahrain, voicing their anger at the martyrdom of Bahraini youth Abdulghani (18 years old), who died as a result of sustained severe head injuries during his arrest.

Protestors held the Bahraini Interior Ministry accountable for Abdulghani's death, whom it claimed fell off the rooftop of a building while attempting to flee arrest. Witnesses; however, said that one of the vehicle involved in the arrest ran over him twice.

Human rights organizations have called for an immediate investigation into the incident, deeming Abdulghani a victim of the Formula 1 race which was held in Bahrain over the past three days.

The Bahraini authorities intensify their campaigns against peaceful protestors and dissent ahead of the F1 tournament, as security forces arrested around 50 people in the two weeks prior to this sports event, while Abdulghani was injured the night before it kicked off.

Bahrain's main opposition party, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, raised doubts about the Interior Ministry's statement and called, along with Wa'ad Society, for an independent investigation into the incident.
