Bahrain Mirror: Clashes broke out in Bahrain on Friday (July 29, 2016) after security forces confronted protests in different areas across the country, which called for putting an end to the ruling Al Khalifa family's monopoly over power.

Protests have increased and tensions rose since mid June when the authorities decided to strip the Bahraini Shia spiritual leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim of his citizenship and prosecute him over charges of "money laundering", related to the Shiite religious obligatory practice of Khums (alms).

Angry Protestors marched through the streets of Diraz, Karana, Abu Saibe', Saar, Al-Musala, A'ali, Sadad, Al-Malikiya, Dar Kleib, Al-Ekr, Nuwaidrat and Sitra, chanting slogans denouncing King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and calling for putting and end to the persecution practiced by the government against the Shia in the country.

Government forces clashed with protestors in Sitra and fired tear gas canisters into residential areas, flooding the neighborhoods with toxic smog.
