Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini authorities arrested on Tuesday (August 9, 2016) 10 Shiite clerics over rejecting the "sectarian measures" taken by the government against rituals and prominent religious figures in the country.

The public prosecution detained Sheikh Mohammad Jawad Al-Shahabi, Sheikh Fadel Al-Zaki, Sheikh Ali Al-Himli and preacher Habib Al-Dirazi for 15 days pending investigation for refusing the ongoing harassments against the religious leader Sheikh Isa Qassim.

The Ministry of Interior decided to suspend Sayed Mohammad Hadi Al-Ghuraifi, Sheikh Mounir Al-Maatouk, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Khidran, Sheikh Imad Al-Shaala, Sheikh Hussein Al-Mahrous and Sayed Yassine Al-Mosawi to present them to the prosecution.

Shiite clerics are facing an unprecedented campaign of arrests since the authorities revoked the citizenship of Sheikh Isa Qassim 50 days ago.

Senior clerics in Bahrain announced that the Shia sect has become targeted in its existence and religious rituals after targeting the Khums (alms) and preventing the largest Shiite prayer.
