SIU Questioned 47 Policemen Accused of Torture in July

Bahrain Mirror: The Deputy Chairman of Bahrain's Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Mohammed Khalid Al-Hazza, said that the unit received 22 complaints in July, which included complaints of alleged torture and maltreatment committed by public security service men. "The SIU has taken action by investigating all the complaints," he added.

In a statement issued on Sunday (August 14, 2016), Al-Hazza said: "In the framework of the circulated cases, the SIU listened to the testimonies of 42 victims and witnesses and questioned 47 suspects from the public security forces. It also referred 3 complainants to the unit's psychiatrist to be examined and determine whether they suffered from any psychological effects over what complained about."
