Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Bahraini security authorities didn't allow families of defendants in "Zulfiqar Brigades" case to attend first trial hearing today on Tuesday (August 23, 2016).

A number of parents said that the judge promised them to meet their detained sons after the hearing.

The Public Prosecution had declared the conclusion of investigations in the formation of the "Zulfiqar Brigades" case, referring 138 defendants to court, including 86 held in custody and 52 at large.

The authorities arrested a number of citizens since November 2015, referring them to prosecution in November 25. The prosecution investigated the case over a period of 10 months and recently referred the defendants to court.

A number of defendants complained to their families about being subjected to severe torture by security forces, who forced them into making false confessions, based on which they were referred to prosecution.
