Bahrain Mirror: A Saudi Interior Ministry security spokesperson said that the security authorities succeeded in foiling planned terrorist attack aimed at targeting Shiite mosque in the Eastern Province's Qatif area.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the terrorist operation was targeting "worshipers at Al-Mustafa Mosque in the Um Al-Hamam village in Qatif during time of evening prayer."

"The movements of one the people raised suspicion of security forces present at the scene, who stopped him to check the situation, which led him to try blowing up explosive belt placed in a sports bag on his back," added the spokesperson.

"Security forces foiled his attempt by opening fire at him and taking his bag, which was later revealed that it contained 4 kilograms of explosive materials. He died on his way to the hospital. After searching him, a Pakistani ID card was found, which still needs to be verified," the spokesperson further stated, noting that "investigations are still ongoing and any further updates will be announced in a follow up statement."
