Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini high Appeal Court, presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa and Naji Abdullah as secretariat, upheld a verdict sentencing a Bahraini to 5-year prison term over burning manufacturing hoax bomb through 2 "Pringles" cans.

The authorities claim that they received a notice stating that 10 people assembled in Sanabis. Thus, the security forces headed to the location to deal with the protestors.

They also claim that one of the protestors shot fire against the police and then they fled away. The police found a locally-made bomb and 5 spent ammunitions. The police told the competent authorities who arrived to the scene to realize that it is a hoax bomb made up of oil can and 2 Pringles cans.

The authorities alleged that they searched the records of the suspects and made sure that the fingerprints are for a suspect who is sentenced to death in Al-Dair bomb in which an Emirati office and two policemen were killed. Questioning him about the incident, the defendant confessed the crime and then denied while being interrogated.

Human rights organizations challenge the charges raised against political detainees, since they doubt the independence of the judiciary, whose members are assigned by royal decrees, and since it issues sentences based on confessions extracted under duress and evidence presented by secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
