Bahrain Mirror: Angry demonstrations took to the streets of various Bahraini areas, on the eve of the February 14 revolution's 6th anniversary.

In various town and cities, a number of mass protests witnessed a vast participation by Bahrainis, men and women, which outnumbered last year's revolution commemoration, despite dear spread by security authorities since June 2016.

Protesters chanted slogans against the regime and Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, demanding an end for the ruling family's domination of power. They marched under pouring rain, defying the tightened security measures. Many protests were subject to security crackdown and attacks, as forces attacked protesters with shotguns and tear gas canisters.

Rallying Bahrainis block many streets of the country, and imposed barriers to prevent the progress of armored security vehicles, which make their way into neighborhoods to hunt down protesters. Many shops and gas stations closed their doors.

The wave of popular protests aggravated since the authorities executed 3 young Bahraini activists last January, after which it killed 3 others trying to flee Bahrain by sea last Thursday, February 9, 2017, in an operation that still raises a lot of suspicions.

Authorities have stepped up repression against the opposition movement since mid-June 2016, as by virtue of a royal decree, they revoked the citizenship of the supreme Shiite religious leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim. This was followed by a siege on Diraz, for over 7 months now, with other measures including dissolving Al-Wefaq Society, the biggest opposition society in Bahrain, and arresting prominent Bahraini activist, Nabeel Rajb.
