Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeal upheld a first instance court 5-year prison verdict against an appellant in a case linked to burning tires, illegal assembly, and endangering public properties.

The First Instance Court had accused the defendant, along with others, of violating the law, burning tires, taking part in illegal assembly of more than 5 individuals, and endangering public property and transportation on July 21, 2014.

Since 2012, riot cases that go under the demonstrations and riot section of the penal code were adapted to apply to the terrorism law, if there were "terrorist" purposes behind them, such as attempted murder of a police officer, violating the provisions of law and endangering the lives of people and their properties, within the regime's framework of harshening penalties against protesters and activists.
