Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeals rejected the objection of a suspect who is sentenced to 3 years in prison and commuted the 3-year jail term issued against 2 others to 6 months over an arson case.

The court of appeals accepted on Monday (February 24, 2014), unanimously, the appeals presented by the public prosecution in an arson case in form but in substance rejected the appealed verdict acquitting the 3 accused, sentencing each one of them to 3 years in prison

The public prosecution accused the 3 suspects of deliberately setting fire that would put people's lives and money to danger and referred them to the high criminal court that acquitted the suspects of the charges brought against them. The public prosecution challenged the verdict by appealing before the high appeal court that the charges were proven against the accused, on the basis of reasons mentioned for the appeal, and thus the high appeal court annulled the verdict acquitting the acused, convicting and sentencing them to prison.
