Bahraini & Western activists announce from the Swiss capital, Bern, the launch “European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights’

Bahrain Mirror (Excusive): On, April 20, Bahraini and Western activists announced from the Swiss capital, Bern, the launch of a new human rights organization, officially titled: “European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights (EBOHR)”

At a ceremony yesterday, EBOHR announced in the presence of human rights activists from Bahrain and the Arab world, including activists from Europe and the United States goals centering on,

“Building a solid informational base for human rights violations in Bahrain” including the “strengthening of a strong network based on national and international solidarity” with “the aim of creating international pressure groups”.

EBOHR affirmed that there aspirations of this human rights organization, which they declared as a “non-governmental, independent and international human rights organization” include the vision of “a people of Bahrain that are able to rely on an extensive network of human rights defenders in order to achieve justice in Bahrain”.

The European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights was established under the contribution and membership of a group of human rights activists spanning from Bahrain, Canada, Egypt, Iraq, Ireland, Lebanon, Switzerland, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United of America, Spain, and Yemen.

The objective of their organization include:

“The promotion and respect for the inherent dignity of all members of the human family” including the goal of “seeking to build a society that enjoys all the fundamental rights and freedoms, working towards the eradication from torture in all its forms as well as furthering the level of national, regional and international awareness of the violation of human rights in Bahrain”.

Furthermore, EBOHR objectives include the aim of:

“Strengthening the national and international bonds of support and solidarity in the field of human rights by building a comprehensive and updated database of the violations that are occurring in Bahrain”.

Additionally, they adhere to,

“Establishing strong relations with the United Nations and organizations on the local, regional and international levels with the ultimate purpose of protecting human rights defenders”.

They also stated that:

“The vision of their organization derives from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with the aim of supporting, respecting and promoting the principles of human rights and democracy in Bahrain, within the framework of international conventions and treaties- seeking to improve international standards of human rights in Bahrain through the creation of international pressure groups”.

EBOHR emphasized their commitment to work to monitor the human rights situation in Bahrain with the issuance of competent statements and reports that entail the violations committed.

“We are working to coordinate our work with various international organizations for human rights, aiming to create a solid base to show the prevalence and continuance of human rights violations under the current regime, including crimes against humanity in Bahrain”.

Additionally, EBOHR commits to:

“Train and protect human rights defenders in order to build their professional capabilities” also noting the “mobilization of international humanitarian conscience to shed light on issues such as torture, abduction and forced sectarian conflict, ethnic discrimination with unfair dismissal and arrest as well as unfair trials based on the complete lack of freedom of expression and assembly”.
