ADHRB Launches "Where is Sayed Alawi?" Campaign on Int'l Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances

Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) launched a campaign through Thunderclap website entitled "Where is Sayed Alawi?" to demand the Bahraini authorities, through social media outlets, reveal the fate of Sayed Alawi Sayed Hussein.

The campaign, that will be launched tomorrow August 30 at 1 PM, received support. Participants in "Where is Sayed Alawi?" campaign will share the same tweet on their accounts.

It is to mention that the world will recognize tomorrow, 30 August 2017, the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. Thus, the organization asked its followers to join it in supporting this campaign to seek urgent clarification regarding the location of Sayed Alawi and the legal basis for his detention. ADHRB urged the Bahraini government to provide him prompt and regular access to his lawyer, family, and any medical attention he may require. It also urged the Bahraini authorities to release him unless he is to be charged with a recognizable criminal offence.

The Bahraini government arrested Sayed Alawi on October 24, 2016. He has only been permitted four short phone calls to his family, during which time he is not allowed to tell them where he is being held or discuss the state of his well-being. His whereabouts and condition remain unknown. Therefore, he has been forcibly disappearance for over 10 months.

Sayed Alawi's family and international human rights organizations have made repeated efforts to engage with the Ministry of Interior, Ombudsman, National Institute for Human Rights and Special Investigation Unit to know his fate. However, Sayed Alawi still remains missing and his family is extremely concerned for his well-being.
