102,000 Bahrainis Work in Private Sector Compared to 54,000 in Government Institutions

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Minister of Labor and Social Development Jamil Hmaidan said, during his participation in the government forum, that the national workforce consists of 102,000 citizens working in the private sector, while 54,000 citizens work in state agencies, noting that the future is in the private sector. He further stated that women in Bahrain represent 53% in the public sector and 33% in the private sector, highlighting that Bahrain is the most advanced among all sister countries in the GCC in terms of integrating women into social development.

Concerning the development of wages, he said that it constitutes 3.6% in the private sector and 0.7% in the public sector, pointing out that this development serves the interest of the private sector. The Minister added that unemployment and labor disputes have declined, noting that training in Bahrain through "Tamkeen" has led to raising the efficiency of national labor.
