Court Upholds 3-Month Jail Verdict against Bahraini Woman over Beating 4 Policewomen in Isa Town Police Station

Bahrain Mirror: The First High Appeals Court upheld a 3-month jail verdict against a Bahraini woman (39 years) over the charge of attacking a female officer and 3 policewomen in Isa Town police station.

The authorities say that the woman headed to the police station due to her quarrel with her husband who failed to make her enter the center, because she was in a nervous state and was screaming. A female officer tried to calm her down and took her to a private room. However, the woman attacked the officer, thus, the policewomen interfered. The woman pushed one of the policewomen, bet another one on her arm and twisted her arm when she tried to handcuff her.

The Public Prosecution accused the suspect of attacking the bodily integrity of public employees, while and for performing their job. It also accused her of insulting a Lieutenant, while and for performing her job. A first-instance court sentenced the suspect in absentia to 6 months in prison. The suspect objected against the verdict and the court amended it to 3 months.
