Bahrain Mirror: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General, Abdul Latif Al-Zayani, broke his silence regarding the Qatari crisis and attacked the Qatari media, denouncing their criticism against the GCC Secretariat, also stressing that resolving the Qatari crisis is not his responsibility.

In a statement published by Bahraini media outlets, Al-Zayani censured "the unjust campaign that has passed over all customs, principles and journalistic professionalism by using an unprecedented media discourse in the Gulf, full of insults and attacks."

Al-Zayani expressed surprise at the Qatari media's attempt to "hold the Secretary-General responsible for solving the Gulf crisis, although officials in the Qatari government and Qatari media are fully aware that the solution of the crisis and the end of its repercussions is in the hands of the leaders of the GCC states and members of the supreme council, and not the responsibility and duties of the Secretary-General who receives and executes the decisions, directives and orders of the Supreme Council and the Ministerial Council only, in compliance with the provisions of the GCC Statute. "

Al-Zayani also rejected the Qatari media's attempt to link his stance towards the crisis to his Bahraini nationality and Bahrain's position, stressing on his full commitment to fulfilling the duties assigned to him by the Supreme Council (...), further stressing that what the Qatari media is doing is hampering mediation efforts of Kuwait's Emir.
