Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Bahraini family of detained Bahraini activist Ahmad Ali Mahdi said that they discussed with lawyers suing the company that produced a series entitled, "Hidden Worlds" for airing a scene that included their son's picture captioned as a terrorist arrested in an apartment west of Cairo.

The series, which speaks of the arrest of a 5-member terrorist group in the 6th of October City, west of Cairo, showed Mahdi's photo along with another Bahraini detainee called Mohammed Ali Jaafar Al-Bayaa.

"We did not find a justification for what they did," the family said, expressing their shock as to why the company did that. "Ahmed was arrested in Bahrain and charged for participating in protests."

"It is outrageous to defame our son in this way in front of millions of Arab viewers," the family added.
The family confirmed that they had discussed with Bahraini lawyers suing the production company. "We will work on saving face [...] We have discussed with the attorneys taking legal action against Magnum Productions, which produced the Hidden Worlds show."

The family reiterated its call for his release, stressing on his innocence of the charges raised against him, and said that they were based on his participation in the protests.

Mahdi was arrested in a group of more than 20 people due to his activity and participation in daily protests, before the Public Prosecutor's Office charged him with assaulting the police.

A Bahraini court sentenced Mahdi to 10 years' imprisonment and revoked his citizenship, a sentence Bahrain issued against hundreds of its opponents.
