Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini security authorities released the Shiite cleric Sheikh Isa Al-Mo'min, the imam of Al-Khaif Mosque in Al-Dair area, one day after his arrest. The Public Prosecution ordered his release on Tuesday (October 30, 2018) after being interrogated by the Attorney General. His family said that the authorities had summoned Sheikh Isa Al-Mo'min on Monday (October 29, 2018) for interrogation over a "Ashura lecture in which he used Quranic verses that the interrogator did not understand ... and thus decided to detain him to be referred to the prosecution."

The security authorities had released Sheikh Al-Mo'min in May after he served a three-month sentence over charges of "inciting hatred against the regime in Friday sermons".

The Interior Ministry arrested the Sheikh on February 4 this year after he was sentenced to three months in prison for "inciting hatred against the regime in Friday sermons".

The Sheikh denied the charges  raised against him again. Human rights sources have previously confirmed that the Sheikh was deprived of his constitutional rights stipulated in the Constitution in Article 20, as his lawyer was not allowed to have contact with him during his interrogation at the Samaheej police station and his family were only able to know what the charges raised against him were after the statement of the Public Prosecution was issued.

Sheikh Isa Al-Mo'min embraced freedom on July 1 after serving a three-month sentence in prison over a Friday sermon as well.

The Bahraini authorities arrested a number of Shiite clerics last September over charges related to the commemoration of Ashura.
