Bahrain Mirror: Former Secretary-General of Wa'ad Society, Ibrahim Sharif, renewed his warning of two dangers facing the demography in Bahrain for two decades.

Sharif spoke, in a post on the "X" platform, about two dangers related to demographics; the first is "political naturalization, which may have added approximately 150,000 "new" citizens, who constitute about 20 % of the population of citizens today."

Sharif said: "These brothers have the same rights as citizens to free or state-subsidized services in the field of housing, education, health, electricity, water, and the social insurance system, and they have the right to compete with our sons for government jobs."

He pointed out that "the second danger is demographic and multi-faceted, from the steady increase of foreign workers, whose number has doubled since the Charter, despite the great hopes and promises launched by the labor market reform project, which raised the slogan 'Bahraini First'."

"These people compete with our children for private sector jobs and indirect government jobs due to the government transferring of some of its activities to contractors (outsourcing) and even in the business sector through flexible visas and concealment," he added.
