Bahrain's top court rejected Monday a request to release Shiite opposition chief cleric Ali Salman, who is serving a nine-year jail term on charges of inciting hatred and forceful regime change.

Bahrain�s main opposition group, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, condemned the �heinous terrorist act� that targeted worshippers at the Imam Ridha Mosque located in the Al-Ahsa governorate, east of Saudi Arabia.

The Deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq, Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, said: �We heard for years that our economy is strong and it would not be affected, suddenly the citizens discovered that they were deceived and should pay the price of this failure.�
