Deputy president of (dissolved) Bahrain Teachers Association Jalila Al-Salman received Mary Hatwood Futrell award during a ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (July 25, 2019), on sideline of Education International world congress.

Education International�s Executive Board has named Jalila Al-Salman, as the recipient of the Mary Hatwood Futrell Human and Trade Union Rights Prize for her outstanding engagement and courage in promoting education for all.

Hundreds of activists and tweeters took part in a widespread media campaign under hashtag #Detainee_without_Rights to write on Twitter about the prominent violations against the 4000 political detainees in Bahrain.

The Bahraini security authorities prevented on Tuesday (September 12, 2017) deputy president of the dissolved Bahrain Teachers Association Jalila Al-Salman from leaving the country.

Front Line Defenders condemned this recent wave �of harassment against human rights defenders in Bahrain� considering it to �be solely motivated by their peaceful and legitimate activities in the defence of human rights�. It urged the authorities �to cease all forms of harassment against all human rights defenders in Bahrain� and �immediately and unconditionally remove the travel bans imposed against human rights defenders facing travel restrictions.�

Activists on social media said that the authorities summoned a number of Al-Wefaq leaders and activists for interrogation in the public prosecution without knowing the nature of cases to be investigated.
